Firstly, thank you for clicking the link and coming here.

I recently joined Greenpeace International, as I have a yearning to visit the Amazon at some point in time and would like to see it with trees and wildlife, rather than concrete and open expanses of land with burned tree stumps, but thats another issue!

What hit me when I visited the Greenpeace website, was what is happening to the worlds Whales our Whales, your kids and grandkids Whales

Do you recall the campaigns in the 80s of Save The Whales, to try and stop or at least regulate the capture of the Whales. Like me, you probably recall the campaign slogan, and thats about it, assuming it did its job.

Do you realise that the slaughter of the worlds Whales, is still happening today-in the 21st century, neither did I, how can this still be happening?

This month alone the Japanese Government have sent a whaling fleet to the Southern Ocean Sanctuary with the aim to hunt 945 whales!

Like you, I dont want future generations to grow up having to explain to them that once upon a time, these majestic creatures used to live in our oceans and roamed freely across the globe.

So what can I do about it, probably not much. But then WhaleMail came to mind.

With your help, WhaleMail, will become the biggest ever global email chain, linking you to this on line Petition, which will be presented in one way or another to the International Whaling Commission (IWC), in May this year-2007, at their annual conference being held in Alaska, and giving Greenpeace a stronger voice to help ban whaling for ever.

Greenpeace - Our obligation, here from land, is to regain the majority of votes in the next International Whaling Commission meeting next May in Anchorage, Alaska.

The message is clear and concise to the IWC, You must put a stop to the barbaric whaling practices still employed, particularly by the Japanese Government. The Whales should be a respected and protected species of our earth that nobody should persecute for financial gain. Act now as a result of this petition and listen to what the people are saying, put a final stop to whaling!

Like you I have no idea how WhaleMail will gather momentum, other than by forwarding the email link to this Petition to your friends, family, associates and colleagues and make WhaleMail work. I would like to set a target of 1 million names by May 2007. Tough call I know, but thats only 250,000 per month over the next 4 months, 58000 a week, or approx 8500 a day, easy The key to success will be international coverage, so please forward to anyone you know internationally and help make "WhaleMail" truly global.

If you care about the Whales, and want to see an end to whaling, sign my petition please, and pass it on with urgency.
