Syria is as Dangerous as Iraq and has been occupying its neighbour Lebanon for the last 27 years sign now

February 12, 2003

In today's email edition of the Independent, Prime Minister Toni Blair of England stated:

Quote :

" Mr Blair insisted that the central issue was Iraq's having weapons of mass destruction. Jeremy Paxman asked him why, in that case, the US and Britain were not planning to attack Syria. Mr Blair responded by saying that Syria had not invaded a neighbour as Iraq had done in 1990 " .

Our message:

Dear Prime Minister Blair:

Like the majority of freedom loving democratizers in the world, we believe that war brings incredible suffering to the innocent victims . In spite of our aversion to war, we at the U.S Committee for a Free Lebanon, Inc. totally support the U.S and U.K leadership on Iraq's total disarmement, with or without the use of force. However, a war in Iraq would be a total fiasco if the job is not finished well this time. Meaning, an Iraq without WMD and Saddam.

It's understandable that with the emphasis on Iraq and the required goodwill and cooperation from the neighboring states, you downplayed the Syrian issue. Mr.Prime Minister, as Lebanese and American nationals, we have seen the real ugly side of Syria and Assad's style of dictatorship. It's not at all different from Saddam's style. Lebanon has been invaded and is still being brutalised by Syria for the last 27 years. However, all this might seem like a picnic if one day Syria decides to go all the way and use its own WMD.

The future for the Middle East is only possible with open, accountable governments and societies; democracies where there are no places for the Saddams, Assads and the likes.

Yours sincerely,

Ziad K. Abdelnour
U.S Committee for a Free Lebanon, Inc.

I think Syria needs to be told straight up to stop its support of terrorism and turnover any members who fled from Saddam's Regime. Syria needs to know that the US and UK will not hesitate to use military force if those conditions are not met, even if the

I agree with President Bush and PM Blair, that neutralizing Saddam is a good start to restore freedom and peace to the Middle East. I hope that Mr. Blair is just saying "the politically correct thing" for now! Because the job will be left unfinished unles

Make no mistake. Syria invaded, has been destroying and occupying Lebanon for the last 27 years. Claiming otherwise would be untrue and very misleading.
