Stop the E-touts on eBay! sign now

E-tout scum. ie, the people who buy tickets for gigs and festival purely to sell them for profit on internet auction sites such as eBay. Gigs and festivals up and down the country are selling out in record times, and this is forcing the average music fan (who didn't get a ticket when they were first released) to pay ridiculous prices on eBay to get tickets for a sold-out gig.

These people have not simply bought a few extra tickets by accident, they have gone out of their way to log onto ticket sites and actively purchase the maximum number of tickets they buy in one go, WITH THE SOLE INTENTION OF SELLING THEM ON EBAY FOR AS MUCH AS THEY CAN BLEED OUT OF THE POCKETS OF THE HIGHEST BIDDER, WITH SOME TICKETS GOING FOR TWICE, SOMETIMES EVEN 3 OR 4 TIMES THE PRICE.

I go to Reading Festival every year. I have my ticket and this will be my 7th year. But alot of people (including my friends) haven't got a ticket. And I'm gutted about that. This petition is for anyone who could just afford 140 for a ticket, but can't possibly manage the 300 that some individual tickets are selling for on eBay.

And this is not just about Reading Festival. This is about all festivals, and all gigs where the e-touts are getting their hands on the tickets before the genuine music fans - the people who buy the tickets with the intention of actually going to that gig or festival.

eBay have put a block on all tickets for the World Cup including:

World Cup and European Championships matches (including qualifying rounds and the finals)
English Premiership, Football League, Football Conference and League of Wales matches
Champions League, UEFA Cup, Super Cup and Intertoto Cup matches
International matches played in England or Wales (including friendlies)
Friendlies involving England or Wales

SO WHY CAN'T THEY DO IT FOR MUSIC EVENTS AS WELL?

Sign this petition and help us show eBay that enough is enough. The more signatures we get, the more likely it is that eBay might just put a stop to the mindless e-touting that their site is used for. If you've been cheated out of getting a ticket by the e-touts, or if like myself and so many others, you just have a serious issue with their cowardly profiteering, your signature will be greatly appreciated.

scandalous - music loving students prevented form purchasing tickets for event which does not clash with studies/exams etc, remember they are the people supporting these bands during rest of year by buying cd's, going to gigs. As a parent I shall not use

Its far too easy for greedy ticket touts & agencies to make vast amounts of money by ripping off members of the public (and no doubt avoid paying income tax from their profits). There was never a problem obtaining tickets prior to ebay & unscrupul
