Self-Expression Discrimination sign now

I am a student at a public high school in Ohio. Public high schools are supposed to be non discriminatory and accepting of the differences each student brings into their school. Unfortunately, this is not true with my school. Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Ohio, has discriminated against my choice to pierce visible parts of my body other than my ears. They have call it "abnormal," "distracting," and "unusual." Those are strictly opinion! How can you make rules based strictly on opinion, especially one that in this country you have the right to? It's not right! Abnormal? Who is to say what is normal? Distracting? I've seen many more distracting things than a small facial piercing. Unusual? That's not for one certain person to decide. Please help me get rid of this unlawful, discriminatory rule!

I don't think there is anything wrong with people have piercing, it is a form of self expression and if you take that away then everyone would be the same. And why is it a distraction this year in class and it wasn't last year?

we are not all the same, we have a right to a self image, to be who we want , schools and parents teach us to be ourself and not someone else but they want us all to be "perfect", piercing and tatooes, the color our hair is or how we dress is us being our

Let the students be who they are. If they pay the money for the piercing let them show it. I can't begin to name how many teachers say piercings don't distract them, but they just have to enforce the rules made by their boss. It's all pointless to make su

This is very ridiculous. Since when does a school system have the right to tell us what we can and cannot do with our body? These types of things do not cause grades to go up or down, and they're not a distraction like this school system likes to think. T
