Save Our Swords UK sign now

We the undersigned declare our united opposition to the British Government's recent proposals for an outright ban on the sale of swords in Britain and the carrying of swords in public places.

We believe that the British Government should give proper consideration to the important historical, cultural, artistic, sporting, economic and religious aspects of legitimate law-abiding sword ownership, use and transportation.

Maybe making it mandatory to show your martial arts license before making such a purchase rather than banning them out right would be a better move.

Antique swords are collected for their historical and artistic value, not as weapons. Banning the import and sale of antique swords constitutes not only a gross misrepresentation of the intentions of collectors, but limits the global effort to ensure thei

i love my swords, they are part of my collection which never does anything but sit on the wall, a ban is foolish and disrespectful to those who use them in serious martial arts

As Chief of the British Druid Order, and as a High Priest of Alexandrian Wicca, I have used knives and swords in sacred ceremony for over thirty years. I have also been a pacifist since I was five years old. Rather than outlaw the use of symbolic weapons

I understand and appreciate the governments attempts to curtail knife crime but stopping the use of traditional weapons is not the answer, if it was then stores such Tesco and Sainsburys etc would then be stopped from selling kitchen knives - is this real

The banning of swords, will neither save lives nor prevent assaults with deadly weapons. People so inclined will simply turn to other items, which is basic logic.
