Save our Surfing Break sign now

Alot of people have probably never heard of the Small town of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion Wales UK. We are protesting about the proposal to dredge our harbour so that larger boats can enter it. The problem is that the waste from the dredging is going to be dumped on the best surfing reef for miles.

We are a university town and there are quite a few surfers here. If this goes ahead then the break will be ruined and we'll have to travel a great distance in order to find any other breaks as good.

I appeal to all who read this to pledge your support and help our community to save our break for the surfers that use it and the creatures that live on the Reef. For more information go to www.aber.ac.uk to find out more about this great place.

Please listen to this petition. As the letter states, tourism and particularly water sport-tourism is extremely important to the town's economy. Combine this with the environmental impact of depositing the dredged soil on the reef and you are denying resi

The dredging of the harbour at Aberystwyth is an absurd idea. If any research into the area has been carried out, then those concerned will realise that the sediment that is collecting in the harbour is contaminated with the dangerous heavy metals, especi

SINCE WRITING THIS PETITION A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO THERE HAS BEEN SOME MORE INFORMATION THAT I THINK NEEDS TO BE PUT ON HERE. THE SEDIMENT IN THE HARBOUR CONTAINS HIGH LEVELS OF TOXIC PCB'S. THESE ARE MAN MADE AND CAN BE FOUND IN HYDRAULIC OIL AND VACUUM
