We the undersigned object in the strongest terms about the planned development of Wheal Friendly Engine House in St Agnes.

This engine house is at the very centre of a World Heritage site recently granted by UNESCO.World Heritage status gives recognition to 'Cornish Minings' excellence as a world class cultural and heritage site and recognises the importance of 'Cornish Minings' historic landscapes and outstanding buildings in addition to its important role in technological innovation and scientific research.

Prince Charles was presented with the certificate on 17th May 2007!!!

The planned development would convert the building into 2 holiday flats and a conference/ meeting venue. The proposed development would mean the destruction of some of the existing buildings on the site.

I think we need to save our heritage, so much of it is being destroyed by developers and for bio-fuel, we need to value what we have left. Country of Residence UK

2 more holiday flats would be inappropriate. These buildings could be turned into small office space to encourage local businesses to thrive. Country of Residence Newquay, Cornwall, United Kingdom

My husband and I love Wheal Friendly mine, my parents loved it, our children love it as do so many locals, holiday makers, friends and family - we thought that at long last it was safe with World Heritage status! It is a St. Agnes icon. Country of Residen

Why is this happening?? Surely we should be resolving to preserve our Historical Architecture, not ruin it and make yet more holiday homes? Whats wrong with Camping?? There's going to be nothing left to show the next generation at this rate which is sad b

I fully support this petition. Ruthless commercialisation has ruined too much of this country's heritage. The line must be drawn and this is the ideal and worthwhile opportunity to make such a stand. Country of Residence England
