Royal Mail's stamp issuing policy sign now

Dear Mr Walker

Too Many Stamp Issues

We believe that you are issuing too many stamp issues each year and this is harming the stamp and first day cover collecting community.

You have already announced 15 titles for 2008. We can assume at least 4 or 5 miniature sheets on top of that.

That means already the figure is already close to 20 issues per year and you may well add additional issues later on. This year, you added a Harry Potter stamp issue at the last minute, making a total of 3 stamp issues in just 1 month for July 2007.

On top of these come a multitude of extra products such as Smilers sheets and Prestige Booklets.

We believe it is time to stop. We ask you to reduce the number of stamps issued each year.

I believe that as well as issuing way too many new stamp sets. I also believe they have lost their way regarding key historical events. They totally missed the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands War and opted for Wembley and Beside the Seaside instead. Ted

I am so disappointed with the number of issues and the quality of them, that I am switching to collecting from other countries e.g. Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Gibraltar

The large increase in the number of stamp issues in the last 2-3 years, combined with the additional products (such as Smilers Sheets, Miniature Sheets, etc) has made it very difficult both finacially and from a time point of view to catalogue and maintai

Excessive issues dilute the attraction and will, ultimately, kill the golden goose!

This year I decided to reduce my expenditure on GB stamps because there are simply too many issues. I no longer order FDCs (either through Tallents House or any other company) and I try to buy other new issues from local Post Offices to save on the PO's d

RM special issue stamps hold no more interest than sticky labels I used to buy as a child for a few pence. No postal use; can't buy them at post offices and, to add insult to injury, RM do not even use them for their own Philatelic Bureau communications!!

Please reduce the frequency of issues and please reduce the value of the stamps in each issue. It would be lovely to buy stamps at the Post Office and be given commemorative stamps with out asking for them specially. Perhaps I should quit stamp collecting

The James Bond issue in January proves very expensive for collectors when you combine the set with a miniature sheet and a Prestige Book, it should be one or the other, Oh and while mentioning Prestige Books please restrict to two a year in 2008, not thre
