Rabar Hamad Must Stay

We oppose the forced repatriation of Rabar Hamad (MAN/3486117) to Iraq, where both his parents were murdered. We oppose his being made homeless by Wigan Social Services and the Home Office.

Rabar Hamad (dob 9/10/93) is 16. He has been told that as of the 5/8/10 he will be homeless and have no money and further, will be liable to deportation.

He was forced to flee Iraq following the murder of both parents, leaving behind Pawar, his nine year old sister. He arrived in the UK after a long journey hidden near the wheel arch of a truck. On arrival, aged 15, he was age assessed by a social worker as being over 18 and lived for a year in a house where he was often assaulted. He had no understanding of English and was unable to read any of the Home Office papers which arrived or to properly feed himself. He was then subsequently age assessed by a doctor as a minor and placed in a childrens home where he has thrived. However, Wigan Social Services failed to notify the Home Office of his change of address and he was judged to be an absconder. Partly because of this failure, the Home Office have said all his evidence is unreliable. A third age assessment done in Spring 2010, again by Wigan Social Services claimed Rabar is now 20. Anyone meeting Rabar would know this is clearly not the case. At school he has made huge progress and is now doing GCSEs

If he is returned to Iraq he is at risk of being murdered as both his parents were.

We ask the Home Secretary to allow Rabar Hamad to stay in the UK where he is safe. We ask that he be properly age assessed by a medical expert. We ask that he be allowed to stay at school to continue his education and that he remain at the childrens home where he now lives.
