Put a Qualified Animal Behaviorist on NatGeo sign now

We are a group of people who would like National Geographic Channel to cancel The Dog Whisperer and instead develop a show featuring a legitimate animal behaviorist with a Ph.D. or D.V.M., so that NatGeo will no longer be contributing to the perpetuation of flawed dominance theory as a way to train dogs or modify dog behavior. The American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior has a position statement regarding dominance on its web site that we hope you will refer to if you want to better understand this issue.

One's relationship with one's dog doesn't have to be about punishment and abuse. Karen Pryor can show how you can have a wonderful relationship with your obedient dog. Alternative, Dr. Sophia Yin is a great DVM and behaviorist.

Many schools of thought regarding animal behavior, particularly dog training, are fighting to get science-based, modern methods out to the public for the betterment of the human-animal bond. It is of the utmost importance that a qualified individual is do

People look to National Geographic as a source of credible, accurate information. As an educator and behaviorist, I hesitate to use Nat'l Geo's programming as a teaching tool. National Geo. condones abuse for higher ratings?

I think it essential that if National Geographic wishes to keep the respect and high standing it has achieved over the years, it give serious consideration to the above petition.
