No to Starbucks on California Avenue sign now

To: Palo Alto City Council, California Avenue Area Development Association, Starbucks President

We the undersigned believe that opening a Starbucks store on California would be destroying the unique character of the street and would unfairly compete with the small businesses that provide for its diversity.

Starbucks already has a store at El Camino Real and Stanford Avenue, as well as more than six other stores within a 2-mile radius (as per Starbucks' website).

There are currently at least six different shops all serving different kinds of coffee on California Avenue in different settings. We want those shops to continue and thrive, and not be threatened by Starbucks.

I'm tired of the same places everywhere I go. I am less likely to visit a downtown street that looks like every other street in this area. I am attracted to and am more likely to spend my money at individual unique businesses.

Starbucks, I like finding you in communities without lattes. California Avenue in Palo Alto, CA has abundant coffee places and Starbucks within walking distance. Please do not set up on California Avenue.

There is a gallery behind Printer's Ink Cafe that has been in existence for 45 years. Putting a Starbucks across the street will threaten the site of the cafe and the gallery. We recently ,moved because we were priced out of downtown Palo Alto. Don't cont
