Let's Keep the McIvor Family in Colorado-Immigration sign now

The McIvor Family consists of Ian (39), Jeanne (40), Joshua (8) and Alex (4). They moved here two years ago through a employment relocation and a series of unfoirtunate events have taken place. Ian has lost his job as of February 16th, 2006 and there is a great possiblity that immigration will deport them. Please help by signing this petition and keep the McIvor Family here in Colorado and expedite their dream on becoming US Citizens.

A letter from Ian to his Congressman:

Dear Sir, My name is Ian McIvor and my family (my wife Jeanne, 2 children-Josh at 8 and Alex at 4) and I moved here 2 years ago from Canada as a part of a employment relocation and under an L1A work visa. We were very tentative about moving here but soon after we arrived, we noticed how beautiful, friendly and gracious Colorado was. We have made many very good friends here and my children love their schools and they thrive on the love from all around. During this past summer, my wife and I decided that we loved it here so much, we were going to file for our Green Cards and then after, citizenship. Our Immigration lawyer was contacted by my employer and the proceedings started. Unfortunately, our journey took a very nasty turn. I was informed on December 19th, 2005 (6 days before Christmas), that my job would be eliminated as of February 16th 2006 due to building automation. My immigration discussions have halted and my filing for the Green Card was stopped. As a cruel reality, our L1A visa also expires on Feb 16th 2006 which means that we must leave this beautiful State and Country. We are exploring all avenues that might allow us to stay here, but we fear that we might not have much of a choice in the matter. It rips our hearts out that we might need to sell our dream home in Highlands Ranch, pull our children out of school and basically loose everything over a small detail in immigration. For example, as stated above, we have been here for 2 years. A prerequisite for applying for citizenship is to be here for 5 years. Since we have been here, we have been model 'citizens', paid our taxes (both State and Federal) and have been proud members of our church and community. Our neighbors are horrified of the thought that we might have to leave. They have, on many occasions have stated how 'wrong' this whole situation is and should not be allowed to happen to such 'good people'. In closing, I understand that you Sir are very strong on the point of immigration and illegal aliens, but as stated above, I love my wife and children to the end of the earth and have so much that can give to this community, city, State, Country and I would love more then anything to stay here and become citizens of the fine Country. I would love to vote, but I can't. I would love to serve in the judicial system (of which I did receive a jury duty notice), but I can't. There are so many things that I would like to be a part of and be proud to do, but we now have a deadline of February 16th 2006 hanging over our heads like a sword waiting to drop. I am sorry that I rambled on so long, but I feel so emotional and strong about this that I need to express all of our feelings. Sir, if there is anything at all that you might be able to do or help us with, my family and I would owe you a world of gratitude.

Yours respectfully,

Ian C McIvor and family
