Introduce American Airlines service between North America and Kolkata (Calcutta), India sign now

We wish to bring to your notice that options of flights between North America and eastern India are woefully inadequate in comparison to the potential. Eastern India is a thriving economy that has very strong business ties with North America, especially in the fields of information technology, business process outsourcing, telecom, petrochemicals and manufacturing. Additionally, this part of the world is home to premier educational institutions, and long- and short-term exchange of students and faculty provides a constant flow of traffic. The expatriate community, which is at least 200,000 in number travels to eastern India frequently and a large number of extended family members visit them in North America as well. The traffic from eastern India at the moment relies on a handful of airlines that operate from the areas principal international airport at Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), or have to undertake troublesome transfers in crowded airports in Delhi and Mumbai.

As one of the principal airlines of North America, we hope that you would take the necessary steps to address this grossly underserved market and initiate services to Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) from North America. We feel that this would be a profitable venture for you as well as provide better services to us. We would also like to remind you that many of us are loyal customers of your airline and this loyalty would only grow stronger if you could meet our principal overseas travel needs as you do for our business and personal travel within North America.
