Haverford Place Rent Going Higher
Hello everyone my name is John Weaver, I am a young person trying to get my feet under me in these hard economic times as many of you are probably doing. I chose to rent rather than buying due to the hard times and rocky economic market, I am happy living in the surrounding area of Georgetown and in Haverford Place... BUT... On March 2, i received a letter on my door stating that my rent was going to raise from 745.00 to 800.00 and i must get renters insurance before i can renew a new lease, this is a additional charge to me of 150.00 yearly!! I think this is absurd is this price gouging, due to the constant flow of home owners selling out and now renting?? Is it new ownership?? What is it??
So started looking in the average renters paid in surrounding areas. This was taken from the City of Lexington Home page "The average rent for the lexington area is a modest 437.00. While this number is higher than the Ky average rent it is also higher than the national average rent" website www.royaltyuniverse.com/city-of-lexington-ky.html
Also as i think about staying and paying more rent, i think back to the recent snow storm we had and the completely terrible job that Haverford did on clearing our parking lots, many of us were stuck for days because the parking lot was completely ICE. I actually was helping one of my fellow neighbors push his car out of his space and ruptured my biceps tendon. I am so thankful that i have good insurance and it is taking care of the costs of this injury, yet i am out of work until May 6 and just getting enough money from my retirement to make it.. My neighbor that lives in the same row of apartments was walking out to her car she slipped and fell on some ice and had to get stitches in her chin and miss a few days of work. This is unacceptable!!!
Then i get this letter on my door saying hey your rent is going up.. It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth!!
I am not one to stir things up or be a whiner. Yet I think that Haverford Place needs to reconsider their rent changes especially in the BAD economic times that the nation is going through- THAT EFFECTS US ALL!!! I don't know if this petition will do any good or not yet i think it needs to come to someone's attention that enough is enough!
