Guess? Inc. To Remove Offensive Elephant Ganesha Shirt Immediately sign now
This Petition is to request Guess? Inc. to remove all promotional materials, marketing (on and offline) materials, ad campaigns and product in regards to their offensive Elephant Shirt (product id# Y52JH318) immediately. The shirt, sporting the Indian God, Ganesha with a slogan imprinted on the back rear area reading Handsome Elephant, is offensive to the Indian-American community among others who see this as a total disregard for social responsibility.
The Indian community has made many efforts to get a response from Guess? without any success. The purpose of the campaign is to promote public awareness and also demand Guess? be accountable for their actions. With locations across America in all major metropolitan cities like Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas, Guess?, Inc. states on their website that they are committed to listening and responding to the needs of customers, associates, and business partners, and to honoring their individual value. Additionally, they promote that they give back to the community, support humanity, and protect the environment as part of their responsibilities. And lastly, they claim to embrace diversity, and cultivate strength, pride, and passion to align their personal lives with their professional lives. It seems like Guess?s mission doesnt reflect company actions. If Guesss sole purpose is to gain attention, it is being done although at a cost paid for by South Asian clientele, business partners and South Asians worldwide.
Given the seriousness of Guesss actions and a blatant lack of response, we, the undersigned, now call upon Guess? to remove all promotional materials, marketing (on and offline) materials, ad campaigns and product in regards to their offensive Elephant Shirt (product id#Y52JH318) immediately and to open a conversation with the Indian community to avoid future issues.
