I'm writing this letter as a young aspiring filmmaker and aconcerned Canadian. I totally understand the struggle of myfellow tradesmen when it comes to finding a great original idea. The whole point, from a business aspect, is to come upwith a script that will sell. From an artistic standpoint, you want something that will intrigue the audience as well.I have to say though, in the following case, I'm not torn inthe least as to what the right thing to do is. What happened in the Bernardo case was a horrible thing and he deserves to suffer. Such graphic content has no place in a movie. Furthermore, if the French and Mahaffey families do not approve of this film, it should not be made.
