Footpaths for Taupaki area around school and kindy sign now
We, the residents and users of Waitakere Road, Cottle Road and
Peters lane request that Auckland Transport consider the construction of footpaths or safe walking routes (ie gravel paths) From the Hanham Road/Waitakere Road intersection along Waitakere Road past Taupaki school to the start of Peters Lane. Or at least a portion of this route close to the school. Currently there is no safe accessable walking space on this road. Walking is only possible on the actual road hugging the white line. This road is a 70km/hr zone in parts which slows to 40km/hr just before Taupaki school. In the area is Taupaki school which accommodates 260 children. Taupaki Kindergarten which accommodates 50 children. The Taupaki Community Hall which runs many community programmes As well as Harry James Reserve which has a beautiful playground, walking/biking track, grassed area and public toilets Outside the school and Kindy, there is insufficient parking for the number of parents dropping and collecting children from the school and kindy. If there were footpaths linking the neighbouring residents we would certainly use them which would reduce pressure on the few precious, available carparks. There is also a non-school community who would love have a safe walking access to the park and community hall or even just to visit neighbours safely.Sign The Petition
